We’re launching this brand-new tradition to celebrate the trailblazers, changemakers, and visionaries who have shaped our community through bold leadership and meaningful service, and we need your help! This is your opportunity to honor alumni whose work continues to create lasting impact and inspire others to lead with purpose. Posthumous nominations are welcome, allowing us to recognize those whose legacy still shapes our community today.

Nomination Instructions

Thank you for helping us recognize outstanding Leadership Greater Huntsville alumni who are making a meaningful difference in our community. These awards celebrate leaders whose service, impact, and commitment reflect the mission and values of LGH. Please review the guidelines below before submitting your nomination.

Eligibility

Nominees must be graduates of a Leadership Greater Huntsville program.

Who Can Nominate

Nominations may be submitted by LGH alumni, community members, colleagues, supervisors, or through self-nomination.

Required Nomination Materials

  • Completed nomination form
  • Brief description of the nominee’s leadership and community impact
  • Examples of service, collaboration, or initiatives led

Selection Process

All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee using an established scoring rubric. Award recipients will be selected based on leadership excellence, community impact, and alignment with LGH values.


Core Selection Criteria

  • LGH Alumni Status – Nominee must be a graduate of a Leadership Greater Huntsville program.
  • Leadership Impact – Demonstrates strong leadership through professional roles, civic involvement, or volunteer service that positively impacts Huntsville–Madison County.
  • Community Engagement – Actively involved in initiatives, organizations, or causes that strengthen the community and improve quality of life.
  • Service & Stewardship – Shows a commitment to service, ethical leadership, and responsible stewardship of time, talent, and resources.
  • Alignment with LGH Values – Embodies the mission and values of Leadership Greater Huntsville through collaboration, integrity, and leadership development.

Distinguished Alumni Award
Honors an alumna/us who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and sustained community impact through professional achievement, civic engagement, and service.

Community Impact Award
Recognizes an alumna/us whose leadership has resulted in meaningful, measurable improvements in quality of life across Huntsville–Madison County.

Service & Stewardship Award
Honors an alumna/us who exemplifies servant leadership through consistent volunteerism, nonprofit involvement, and stewardship of community resources.

  • Innovation & Initiative – Introduces new ideas, programs, or approaches to address community needs
  • Collaboration – Effectively works across sectors and organizations to create positive outcomes
  • Leadership Beyond Position – Leads through influence and example, regardless of title
  • Role Model & Inspiration – Serves as a positive example for emerging leaders and fellow alumni

Final Notes

All nominations will be reviewed confidentially. Selected honorees will be notified prior to the public announcement and recognition ceremony. Thank you for taking the time to help us celebrate the leaders who continue to strengthen our community through service, collaboration, and impact.
